The MET Gala 2024 dazzled with an ode to nature.
It is one of the most anticipated nights for fashion lovers. It is also one of the days that replicates content - through social networks - on an international scale: from admiration to sumptuous criticism by media outlets, experts, enthusiasts and even style opponents.
The evening of May 6th, the first Monday in May, was no exception. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York was once again in the eyes of the world as hundreds of celebrities walked down the iconic stairs.
The goal? To show off looks inspired by the theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion and raise funds for the Costume Institute. This is the name that actually shapes an exhibition that will be held inside the museum from May 10 to early September 2024.
The new exhibition at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will bring together, for the first time, a series of fashion pieces never seen before, as well as other individual creations in an interesting journey that spans 400 years of history: Schiaparelli, Dior and Givenchy are some of the firms that make up the exhibition where - thanks to the possibilities of technology - it will be possible to admire pieces that could not be exhibited due to the passage of time.
Balancing the interpretation of nature through high fashion and the possibilities of current innovation, the exhibition promises to have a historical impact on visitors who will be able to fall in love with garments dating back to the 17th century.
The red carpet
Led by one of the most media-savvy and undoubtedly powerful women in the fashion industry, Anna Wintour, names such as Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez were the official hosts.
Later, they made way for figures with a legion of followers and, of course, dressed in all kinds of brands and designer firms. From clothing in its finest expression, to fashion proposals that border on exaggeration or, at best, take your breath away to inspire those who love fashion from a perspective full of experimentation.
Among the figures who walked the red carpet were: Gigi Hadid, Shakira, Sara Jessica Parker, Nicki Minaj, Dua Lipa, Penélope Cruz, Kim Kardashian, Karol G, Demi Moore, Ariana Grande and Nicole Kidman.
Some of the brands that dressed the celebrities represented a true spectrum of global fashion and eras: Givenchy Couture, Alexander McQueen, Vera Wang, Victoria Beckham, Thom Browne, Maison Margiela, Tom Ford, Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier and many more.
Yes, a night of dreams, flowers and fantasy.
