Guide and encourage: IM Mentoring

IM Mentoring, a business incubator, continues with a second stage.
In an interview with Jorge Garibay, CEO of Intermoda, we delve into more details about IM Mentoring . Heading into its second season, this project has seen the likes of fashion design firms Paulina Luna, Prisma, Jacobo sin A and Raúl Orozco shine.
Discover the details:
What has been the main objective of the project?
“Turning talent into a reality and then positioning and promoting it. Entrepreneurship and dreams begin to grow, and at the same time Intermoda grows. It is a virtuous circle (…) we guide and channel it with the help of mentors like Benito Santos and CANAIVE.”
A triple helix…
“Correct. Benito Santos, which has a track record that is strong on its own, CANAIVE and Intermoda, a platform for promotion. Taking this triple helix into account, we realize that a second season is needed and therefore, we reaffirm our commitment to finish next year.”
During the first season, there were themes such as design, pattern making, editorial looks, among others. Will more themes be added?
“On the one hand, we have a continuation. But we do have added themes that add value to the project and the incubator; for example, in November we will have a launch event for IM Mentoring where we will be able to experience what we saw on the catwalks; it will be an exercise that will allow us to get closer to reality (…) acquiring the product from the designer is a plus.”
Intermoda has always been known for its innovation. In that sense, what impact did the digital project have?
"It's a natural thing. The audiences we reach are expecting humanization and a story; we don't just buy a product, but information about how it was created. We consider the entire impact on social networks to be something natural (…) it has been a success that makes us satisfied because it is a titanic work that has been achieved within the Intermoda team and we also give a lot of credit to the designers, because it is not easy to work under conditions of pressure and time."
Once this second season is over, will there be any follow-up with the designers?
"We will begin a second round with new talents and mentors, but we will continue to support our graduates from the first generation of this incubator. They will naturally be present at our event by participating as exhibitors, in groups, in a panel and other exercises that will allow us to support them and see them grow. In a few years, we will see a whole generation of talents that push forward and Intermoda has the responsibility of not letting them go."
How has the value chain that meets at Intermoda responded to this project?
“The market, the sector and experts in the field of fashion and textiles agree on the idea that it was necessary to do so. Someone had to unite different sectors on the same path, the project was very well received and if we add the strength of Intermoda, CANAIVE, Benito Santos and the same talents that joined the project, it is a very attractive cocktail.”
What message would you, as the Organizing Committee, give to the designers who made up the first generation of IM Mentoring?
"Thank you for believing and trusting in us. Intermoda has the responsibility to guide and accompany (…) They are proof that talent overcomes any obstacle."
