A look at the exhibits honoring the fashion of music icons
Fashion is a cultural phenomenon that is linked to other expressions. For example, music. We only need to close our eyes and think of the pop divas or the great bands that have accompanied us from the dance floor or the imaginary concerts in our rooms.
The outfits that these music stars have worn on stage in epic concerts or to accompany their music videos play a fundamental part not only in their image, but in the construction of a concept that transcends the music industry.
This magic is thanks to fashion and throughout the world, there are exhibitions that have a clear objective: to exalt the role of clothing, as well as accessories in the success of these figures.
Get to know some of them:
Victoria and Albert Museum
Imagine an entire floor dedicated to figures such as Kylie Minogue, Abba or Elton John, where colourful jackets, sequins and platforms surprise every visitor who loves pop classics. The tour feels like a backstage visit to experience the magic of the production of a great show. All from the famous Victoria and Albert Museum in London, dedicated to fine and decorative arts.
Grammy Museum
Just outside downtown Los Angeles, there's a space dedicated to names that have sold millions of records. This museum pays special attention to the process that encompasses the music industry: production, recording, performance and more. From pieces belonging to the King of Pop Michael Jackson, to vibrant costumes by Shakira. It's all here.
British Music Experience
The United Kingdom has been characterized, throughout the decades, by its contribution to genres such as rock, pop, among others. Therefore, it is not strange that tourists visit different musical attractions in this country; the British Music Experience museum -located in Liverpool- brings together instruments, merchandise and of course, fashion from great soloists and groups: Spice Girls, David Bowie, Noel Gallagher and much more.
