To understand the sustainable path of fashion, we present a series of definitions that will be useful.
With the intention of reducing environmental impact and, at the same time, raising awareness throughout the value chain that makes up the fashion industry about actions that can make a difference towards more responsible production and consumption, it is vital to identify key concepts.
On this path of understanding, buying, manufacturing, and marketing with a sustainable intention, we invite you to take note of some of them:
Upcycling: This term refers to the total use of materials. That is, resources that are considered waste can be converted into new tools, even giving shape to products of a higher quality than they were originally created.
Biodegradable: In different industries, there are materials that have a very special capacity. For example? To decompose naturally in the environment, without harming it and after a period of useful life.
Traceability: Have you ever wondered about the origin of the garment in your hands? Well, traceability identifies the different steps for that fashion product to exist, from the origin of the raw material to the decisions that had to be made to reach the display.
Zero Waste: As its name indicates, an approach from design and production to completely eliminate waste. The raw material is used in its entirety.
